Shekhar Khedekar is the current instructor for the University of California Drumline. Shekhar graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in May 2003. Originally from West Hills, CA, he marched snare drum with the
Conquistadors Youth Band (Moorpark, CA) in 1998, and moved on to the Sacramento
Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps in 1999. In his second season there, the Mandarin drumline
won drums in Division II. Shekhar concluded his drum corps career with the six-time world
champion Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps from 2001-2002. He attended graduate school at UCLA and is now working full time at an engineering firm in the bay area. In addition to instructing Cal Percussion, Shekhar teaches the Beyer high school drumline, which this year earned a bronze medal in the scholastic open division at the percussion world championships in Dayton, OH.
Shekhar has also played tenors for Cal Percussion from 1998-1999,
and snare from 2000-2001. He enjoys moonlit strolls on Mt. Tam, as well as A&W Cream Soda (mmmm... creamy...). Contact him at shekhar.khedekar@gmail.com.
